Watership Down: In Depth review

Synopsis Hazel and Fiver are two rabbits living in a warren ruled by the Owsala, the strong. Fiver, a rabbit prone to having visions, says that the Warren will be destroyed. This launches an epic quest as Hazel, Fiver, and the exiled Owsala Bigwig battle their way to safety, freedom, and their own warren. Negative Content Sexual: Some of the story is the heroes attempting to get does for their warrens, and it is mentioned that some of the bucks are/were mating. One doe thinks that she is being called for mating, but in reality, it is not (Implied). Spiritual: One of the rabbits has a vision, and others are able to sense danger, allegiances, etc. There are stories woven in about magical rabbit (A sort of mythology) and god-like beings. (SPOILER WARNING) In the end the same magical rabbit comes to take Hazel to the end world. Profanity: Some of the "riff-raff creatures" (Scavenger birds for example) say "d*mn" when they are angry. Violence/gore: The fighting is

Mysteries of Cove: Fires of Invention

Synopsis Trenton is a kid who is good at anything to do with machines. He's also super creative, which is bad. It's bad because he lives in a city where being creative and inventing new things is considered a crime. He finds this out when he is nearly sentenced to retraining, a.k.a brainwashing, for building a new type of swing to impress a girl named Simoni. Things start getting even more bad for him when he and a mysterious girl named Kallista start finding pieces to an invention left behind by the lunatic Leo Babbage, who happens to be Kallista's father. On top of all that, he feels like his mother has betrayed him when she refuses to allow him to pursue a job as a mechanic. Negative Things There is one exclamation of "oh my g*sh" and one h*oly. Most of the characters lie frequently, but it all gets resolved when the liars have to confront the web of deception they wove to cover their tracks. The book makes a very clear lying-is-an evil stance. There is als

Redwall Season 3

When Martin the Warrior is captured and enslaved by the evil Lord Badrang, Tyrant of Marshank,he swears to free the slaves and take his father's sword back from Badrang. He, Rose, a mole named Grumm, and a hedgehog named Pallum go on a quest to find the legendary city of Noon Vale and gather reinforcements to rescue the freed slaves besieging Marshank. Positive Things People sacrifice their lives for each other. The importance and values of freedom are stressed frequently. When a rabbit is trapped by a rat and about to get killed (Spoiler alert: he doesn't) he responds to the rat's taunts, "At least I will die a free beast!" Negative Things Badrang and his horde are absolutely evil. They seem to enjoy slaying their slaves, enemies, and even each other. In arguably the most scary scene in the movie one of them allows another to drown responding to his screams, "Quiet! You want them to hear us?" A slave consumed with anger attacks Marshank alone, and

A-team: Steel

Plot: A long time ago a crook named Crazy Tommy T killed his partner and then had him entombed in the cement underneath a skyrise. When the skyrise is scheduled to be torn down, Crazy Tommy T starts harassing the demolition company, even blowing up their payroll. The Demolition Company hires the A-team to get them out of the mess. Positive Things: Classical A-team, in other words good guys come to get some innocents out of a jam. The A-team put the safety of their client's workers first, making sure that they are all out of the way before, you know, they starts dropping wrecking balls on the bad guy's cars (No seriously.) and blowing  everything to smithereens.  Negative Things: Plenty of bang bang as is par for the A-team. Couple explosions. Murdoch casually throws dynamite at innocent workers (Though he misses intentionally.). One girl is seen wearing an immodest "shirt". A few waitresses are seen wearing immodest outfits at what seems to be a pub. Face asks

Farmer Giles of Ham and The Hobbit

Here is Farmer Giles of Ham  and how it measures up to The Hobbit  and the rest of Tolkien's Legendarium. Farmer Giles of Ham Similar to The Smith of Wootton Major  this story is set in a kingdom on ancient England a long time ago. The main character is a farmer named Giles who lives in a town called Ham. My favorite character actually is his dog, Garm, who can talk and is the butt of most of the jokes. Honestly, this story is also far funnier then any Tolkien story I've ever read. One day Garm finds a giant wandering around the kingdom destroying, well, destroying pretty much everything. Giles get's so mad when the giant starts stomping around Ham that he grabs his blunderbuss and shoots the giant with a nail, making him go away. As a reward, the king sent him a sword. This sword turns out to be a very famous sword named Tailbiter. Then Garm finds a dragon wandering around the countryside burning and plundering as dragons do. Giles "heroically" defeats the dra

The Smith of Wootton Major and The Hobbit

Most people don't know that J.R.R.Tolkien wrote many more tales then The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit  not set in his popular Legendarium. One of the most stirring is The Smith of Wootton Major . This book and another, Farmer Giles of Ham,  bear a lot of similarities and things that later became prominent parts in The Silmarillion  and The Hobbit . So here we go! The Smith of Wootton Major. Long ago there was a village named Wootton Major because it was bigger then Wootton Minor. Wootton Major was renowned for its exceptional baking, done by a Master Cook, who appointed a new one when he died or retired. Every twenty four years, a feast is held where a Great Cake is baked. In this feast, children whose birthdays are close to it are invited. A child swallows a star, though without knowing it. Later, when he grew up, he became a smith of extraordinary talent, and discovers that the star is a passport to Faery. He wanders through Faery and discovers many of it's secrets, u

Incredibles 2

Summary Imagine Mom, Mrs Incredible, leaves home. Catastrophe already right? Now imagine that Dad, Mr. Incredible, wipes out oldest daughter's date's memory, cannot understand a thing about his younger son's math homework, and the baby starts shooting lasers out of eyes because that is what superhero babies do I guess. Meanwhile, a villain/hacker named Screenslaver is battling Elastigirl, who is Mom as a superhero. Except, superheroes are illegal so she can't really fight. No more catastrophe. INCREDIBLE CATASTROPHE! Positive Things All of the Incredibles put their own lives at risk to rescue others. At one point Dash, the middle kid, pushes an old lady out of the way from a car sized rock, even going as far as to straighten her glasses afterwards (:D). Mr. Incredible admits his mistakes, and genuinely tries to do what's best for his family, despite several frustrated outbursts at difficult math homework. That's nice to see in a popular movie these days.
